Product Description

We worked long and hard and spoke with many British manufactures to come up with a pole that at the very least matched my original design of ten years ago; I believe that this landing net handle exceeds those expectations!

As part of our continual process of improvement and product development we have totally re-designed the landing net pole end. It now comes with a substantial solid brass threaded section that is permanently moulded into the resin end both at the sides and top, the whole fixture is then pinned through with a stainless steel pin making it the strongest pole on the market. It will take standard net threads up to 30mm in depth and will never let you down (please see cross section photograph). Made from a glass and carbon mix with a sophisticated rubber grip and a diameter of 30mm allowing you to hang on to big fish in fast flows and down steep banks in the wettest of conditions! The unique locking mechanism is both secure and workable even in a deep frost and will not stick and clog with dirt and grit unlike twist-lock variants available. The locks ergonomic design prevents it from snagging on trees and bushes when stalking the river. Extending to 8ft7inches, and that’s 8ft 7 inches of workable handle as this is definitely not a floppy flexible affair!! Whilst not the lightest handle on the market I know it’s the strongest and one that I am justifiably very proud of

Have envied same pole owned by a pal for a while. Does the job and I am sure strong enough to receive a bit of punishment on the bank. Just need a net to suit. Gap in the market methinks

The handle is the strongest I have ever seen. This is my second one I have got it for a friend. The last one I have ordered is on its way.

  4. A handle that does the job 5 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd Sep 2016

Having been angling for over 70 years I’ve had a lot of landing net handles pass through my hands, apart from the Tonkin or Burma cane handles that I couldn't fault except their short length either 5 or 6 feet, the others handles have always left a lot to be desired. The alloy handles which were popular would often seize up just when you wanted to net a good fish. Fibre glass were far too fragile. A similar handle to the Lone Angler product become available a few years ago, but sadly after being used for a few months, it become difficult to extend. I purchased my first Lone Angler handle when they became available, it gave me good and faithful service with no problems, even when used in saltwater environment it still did the job. Being unsteady on my feet I often trod on the handle but it wasn’t damaged. On a trip to the flooded River Ribble my net disappeared in the fast flowing water. I then borrowed a friends handle until I could replace the lost Lone Angler product, one day I got a bit light headed and dizzy then stood on the handle causing a big split making the handle useless. I replaced my friends handle, I also now have a new Lone Angler handle which will last me for the rest of my days, providing I don’t lose it. Martin James MBE

  5. Just the Job 5 Star Review

I own a number of Landing Net Handles that I have collected over the past 50 years, but have not been satisfied with any of them when I have really needed them.
After deciding to spend the 50 Quid on your Landing Net Pole, I wished I had bought one years ago.
Top Class Product, very nice finish, very well made and as strong as it could be.
    Well done.

  6. A Great Landing Net Handle 5 Star Review

This is a great landing net handle that is built to last especially heavy duty for lifting big barbel up steep banks!

  7. Won't let you down 5 Star Review

Last winter I almost lost a 13lb+ Ouse fish at the net when the twistlock handle I was using became loose, time for an upgrade. I had been aware of these handles for some time so decided to purchase one for the new season. Having used it for a couple of months I really am very happy with it, the sturdy design and easy to use but very effective locking mechanism are spot on, there's no way this one's coming loose. I've heard people question the diameter and weight of this handle, but honestly after using it a couple of times you won't notice, having just returned from catching six barbel from the Teme it wasn't a problem. A well designed product that will do what it's supposed to, I wouldn't go back to the twistlock after using this.

  8. At last a handle that suits my needs 5 Star Review

I found this handle suits every aspect of my Fishing life. I have been a Barbel angler for almost 20yrs now and after buying this handle, at last I feel don't need to look for another...I do a lot of upper river fishing and it holds it own in the summer months when I'm reaching over from behind a tree in a snaggy swim to when the river is high in flood..its strength and weight make it an essential part of my kit and a grateful tool at last, to something that I have struggled to find that comes close over seasons past...Great Bit of kit to own.
    Roll on the new season.

  9. Happy to recommend. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 3rd Mar 2015

I have used my pole extensively for more than a full season now and feel confident in providing a product review.

As a committed Barbel angler I have found the poles strength and superb locking mechanism to be a massive asset when overreaching marginal growth or netting a fish from a high bank.

The slight increase in weight compared to other poles only serves to increase my confidence in it.

Overall I believe this pole to be a very worthwhile piece of kit.

    Well done.

  10. Great Landing Net handle 4 Star Review

Posted by on 19th Feb 2015

Pros: Strong Landing Net Handle with great length.

Cons: Just a couple of niggles concerning the finish of the plastic moulding (could be better) & the rubber grip on the handle where it hadn't been cut straight.

To sum it up; a good handle. I've only used it twice so far but great for fishing the higher banks where that extra reach comes in very handy. I look forward to using it for a full season to see how it holds up. The cons are me being picky, if these are addressed it becomes a 5 star rated product by me.
